Frequent questions
What does a session with Define Fitness involve?
A session with our experienced Define Fitness personal trainers will include running, jogging and plyometrics. Also known as “jump training”, plyometrics are exercises based around having muscles exert maximum force in as short a time as possible, with the goal of increasing both speed and power.
We also include body weight exercises, resistance tubing exercises, battle ropes, light dumbbell and kettle bell work. Depending on the package you choose, you might see some heavier equipment (for example in our Tough Enough sessions).
And the best part, you exercise in the great outdoors, breathing in fresh air surrounded by Canberra’s beautiful landscapes.
How is Define Fitness different from a regular gym?
We are all about you. We tailor a program specifically to suit your needs and you goals. We are with you every step of the way. We are there to plan your sessions, guide you through the process, motivate you and advise you on nutrition, well-being and rest days.
Clients who attend our sessions do not want to waste their time on quick fixes. They are ready to invest in achievable goals that will take them to a healthier, fitter person. From pure beginners wanting to make a start on their fitness and weight management to regular athletes who continue to develop their fitness, we have you covered.
Is Define Fitness for me?
If you are willing to invest some personal time and effort in you, then yes. Regardless of what stage you’re at in your fitness, if you have the will, we will make it happen. Determination and hard work will be required so we are not for the faint hearted!
How do I register?
It is as simple as buying a package! You can do that here. Personal training sessions, partner sessions, bootcamps and corporate programs. When you do this we record that you are “in like Flynn” and that you will be at our session.
Will I need to fill out any forms?
Prior to starting at Define Fitness you will need to provide information about yourself, your health and exercise history. We ask that you disclose any previous injuries and issues that may impact your exercise. We have listed below the forms that need to be completed to starting your exercise program at Define Fitness. Simply click on these links and download your forms. We appreciate that you have completed these prior to your session and that you also hand them into your allocated trainer at your first session.
Do you provide nutritional advice?
Diet will form a huge part of your new health and fitness journey, so it is important that we help you get this right from the beginning. At Define Fitness we do provide nutritional advice to support your fitness regime, which is our primary focus.
We offer guidance and recommendations with your diet to compliment your fitness plan. Our collaboration with reputable nutritionists supports this. But remember, we are primarily a fitness training service. We are happy to recommend our nutrition partners if you wish to explore your personal nutritional requirements outside of the scope of your Define Fitness plan.
What do I bring to the sessions?
Dress comfortably and appropriately for your session. This entails wearing sports clothing, sports shoes and a hat and sunscreen if it’s warm and sunny. Bring a drink bottle of water to hydrate. Oh, and of course a healthy dose of enthusiasm and your Define Fitness merchandise!
Group Fitness Members will need to purchase and bring along:
- Your own exercise mat
- Your own inners for boxing
- Your own towel, to wipe away your sweat!
Define Fitness Canberra will provide:
- Hand sanitiser
- Disinfectant wipes
- Motivation and accountability!
What happens when it is raining?
We train. Yes, we are an outdoor training service. We deal with natures best in a positive way. The only time we cancel a session is when there is a storm brewing or it’s torrential rain. Contacting your trainer prior to your session starting is suggested.
As for bootcamps, we will update our facebook page and on the Session Times and Locations page of our website if there are any cancellations. Remember though, we train in the rain!
What if I miss a session?
If you miss a session in our bootcamps you are welcome to attend an alternative one that week. Please contact your trainer to reschedule. There is no roll over of sessions. A block book of sessions is just that, consecutive sessions. We want you to achieve results and in order to get maximum results you must attend weekly.
Personal and Partner sessions require 48 hours cancellation notice. Refunds will not be given unless 48hrs notice has been provided.
